Boracay Island has been named as the Top Island in the World by international travel magazine Conde Nast in World Trade Center, New York City. The award was accepted by Zenn Pallugna of the Philippine Department of Tourism. Two other islands in the Philippines: Palawan and Cebu also featured among the magazine’s 2016 list of Top 20 Best Islands in the World.
Conde Nast has named Boracay as a tropical island with gentle coastline and beautiful sunsets with vibrant nightlife. The white beach is Boracay’s main attraction with powdery white sand and shallow blue water, which is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Pallugna said that these awards for these three islands are a big boost for the Philippines’ tourism efforts, encouraging travelers to visit the country for its beauty and culture.
More than 300,000 travelers participated in the 29th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards Survey of Condé Nast, and voted Boracay as the Top Island of the World in 2016, followed by Palawan and Cebu. The awards event was attended by more than 100 awardees, Condé Nast executives and travel company representatives.
