Officially launched as a free, one-stop-shop destinational marketing service last month, The Conference Shop will run seven famils in NSW and the ACT this year for meeting organisers, beginning with a complimentary, two-day visit to the Blue Mountains on February 27-28 and Wollongong on April 23-24. Other famils, ranging in length from one to two days, will take corporate event organisers to Penrith and the Hawkesbury in May, the Southern Highlands in June, Hunter Valley in July, Canberra in August and Macarthur and Sydney Olympic Park in September
The Conference Shop Director, Carla Offord, said the famils were designed to showcase to conference organisers the appeal of regional locations as corporate event destinations.
“Each famil will focus on the uniqueness of a particular region within three hours of Sydney, however they will all be interactive, allowing participants to experience the true essence of each destination, learn about the value regions can bring to their events and meet suppliers face to face,” Ms Offord said.
“So many companies which have traditionally run meetings and conferences on site or in Sydney have told us that events they have run in a region have proven far more successful, effective and enjoyable. Delegates are removed from the stresses, distractions and pressures of the city and are placed in a more relaxed and focused environment,” she said.
Ms Offord explained that business event organisers in Sydney could develop a better understanding of regional conference venues and suppliers by visiting The Conference Shop’s stand (Number 28) at the Executive Assistant Network (EAN) Conference at Luna Park in Sydney on March 18 and 19, 2015.
“These famils and our exhibition stands are designed to showcase our wonderful range of regional conference suppliers throughout NSW and the ACT and highlight how The Conference Shop can make researching a regional conference or event easy, saving precious time and money,” she said. “And all attendees at our stand receive a lovely bag of goodies, full of deals, incentives and useful regional conferencing information.”
Ms Offord said The Conference Shop is a free online planning resource that connects organisers to regional destinations. “Our site gives organisers access to unique and untapped venues and local suppliers, all of which have been quality tested by The Conference Shop team. Regional event planning is now as easy as 1, 2 3…1, research, 2, compare and 3, select, request and receive details. The seamless and streamlined process saves an estimated 10 to 15 hours of planning and research.”
