Delta’s 2016 Corporate Responsibility Report released Friday provides a look at the company’s approach to being a good steward of the environment, a positive force in communities and a great place to work and fly.
Bolstered by strong graphics and storylines, the report outlines some notable accomplishments including:
Supporting the communities where employees live and serve by giving back 1 percent of Delta’s net income from the previous year to key charitable organizations through cash contributions, in-kind travel and grants from The Delta Air Lines Foundation.
Expanding its role as a global leader in the fight against human trafficking, with enhanced employee training and partnerships including End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking and Out of Darkness.
Continuing its trend of improving its year-over-year global employee injury rate as the airline strives to become a world leader in employee safety.
Kicking environmental sustainability efforts into high gear as Delta began to replace 20 percent of its mainline narrowbody fleet over the next five years with fuel efficient and comfortable A321s, Bombardier CS100s and Boeing 737-900ERs.
Saving an incremental 9 million gallons of fuel in 2016 through measures as simple as reducing onboard weight and lowering shades and opening vents in the cabin when landing at warm destinations.
Continuing our voluntary commitment to carbon-neutral growth against our 2012 baseline by purchasing more than 2 million carbon offsets.
Allowing customers to lighten their own carbon footprint by offsetting nearly 2,000 metric tons of carbon emissions through Delta’s industry-leading carbon offset program.
Leading the industry with customer-facing technology to improve the customer experience ranging from RFID bag tags to innovative security line bag scanning lanes.

For the third year in a row, Delta continued to track positively against the key performance indicators used to measure improvement in areas like cyber security, customer service, supplier diversity, employee satisfaction and climate change. At the core of Delta’s efforts is its steadfast commitment to what CEO Ed Bastian calls the virtuous circle, designed to sustain the airline and its corporate responsibility efforts, for decades to come.
