As part of Costa Cruises’ ongoing quality and sustainability investment program, the 2,680-guest, 85,700-ton Costa Mediterranea is scheduled to enter dry dock at the Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo, Italy, for planned maintenance. The multimillion-dollar refit will be performed from Nov. 21 through Dec. 4, 2103.
The project includes routine maintenance that is performed about every 2.5 years, involving the hull and engine sections and the hotel department. The biggest jobs are cleaning and repainting the hull. Refurbishment in the hotel department includes replacing carpet, curtains, upholstery and other furnishings subject to wear and tear in public areas.
Following the dry dock, Costa Mediterranea will depart from Savona, Italy, Dec. 6 on a trans-Atlantic cruise to the French Caribbean island of Guadalupe, where the ship will be homeport through the 2013-14 winter season, sailing seven-day Caribbean cruises.
