For a major part of yesterday, there was a strong travel advisory in South Florida. This triggered wild winds in Hollywood that played spoilsport for beachgoers as well as tourists. A tourist named Patricia Guzman said that she was unable to go out for kayaking on account of the strong winds. She and her husband were from out of town, and felt that they would be welcomed by a sunny weather when they had arrived.
She and her husband said that they had planned to celebrate their 26th anniversary in the region. However, because of the stormy weather, they were not able to execute their plans.
Veronica Munoz who works at the Hollywood brewing company said that they were getting a scanty number of customers because of the unfavorable weather conditions.
The winds in Hollywood have been blowing from the ocean at speeds of 20 and 30 miles per hour. The gusts were actually over 40 miles per hour.
The stormy weather implies that it would be challenging to drive the lightweight cars, particularly on overpasses and bridges. Small items like empty trash cans would be absolutely blown about. Also, the branches of small trees might get snapped off.
Due to the onshore flow, the risk of rip currents remains high and so is the risk at beaches. The people who are fond of swimming should wear a lifeguard or stay outside the waters all together.
However, it is said that the high pressure system that has triggered the strong winds would gradually slow down by the weekend. Therefore, the winds would probably drop.
