A tourist surfer from US was attacked by a vicious crocodile at a popular tourist beach in Costa Rica on Friday, 22nd July. The man along with his friend was crossing a river, when the beast attacked him.
The crocodile bit the leg and the head of the man several times. The witnesses stated that the man was saved by his friend, who was fighting the reptile off by his bare hands.
One of the certified lifeguards in Tamarindo, Pat McNulty stated that the man was attacked viciously. After the lifeguards brought the man to the beach, they called the ambulance and administered first aid.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Liberia for his surgery.
The victim had to suffer a partial amputation in the right ankle and his calf muscle also got stripped during the traumatic attack.
The man is in a stable condition at this moment.
The victim is a surfer from Colorado, who also has a residence near Tamarindo.
The family members of the man travelled to Costa Rica, right after they heard about the attack.
The community, wildlife and tourism officials came together after the attack to consider crocodile relocation. The authorities decided to put proper signs near the water-bodies to ensure safety of the people.
