Train operating company, CrossCountry becomes the first rail company in the UK to incorporate a Snapchat geo-filter to support a marketing campaign. This has been done after the partnership with Plymouth City Council for MTV Crashes Plymouth 2016.
Geo-filters are location based overlays that users can apply to their Snaps. Snapchatters, artists and designers around the world can submit their own fun and creative geo-filter artwork.
CrossCountry is the official rail partner for the event. The company created seven geo-filters featuring artists including Jess Glynne, Game of Thrones star Raleigh Ritchie and Rudimental. This initiative has helped those attending the event share their musical experience with their friends on social media.
The geo-filters received over 77,650 views after being widely shared by Snapchat users across the two-day event which took place at Plymouth Hoe on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 July.
Catherine Terry, marketing communications manager for CrossCountry said that, the response that they had across the two days was amazing. People’s travel experiences are often shared visually, so giving their customers the opportunity to utilise social media platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram is an important way for them to help the customers make the most of their experience. They will definitely be looking at ways which they can integrate this into their future campaigns.
