Cruise operators are signaling that in 2017, they would start getting more serious about employing technology that would go on to make every moment of a cruise ship vacation more convenient and flexible for travellers.

MSC Cruises that is a Geneva based company has decided to add two new classes of ships this year.

Moreover, it is focusing on creating a ‘seamless, connected vacation experience’, as declared by a certain spokesperson of this company.

The two new cruise ship and the nine sister vessels that would be following it closely would comprise interactive screens onboard that make way for shore activities, making reservations and booking shows.  Apart from that, near field technology would also enable passengers to utilize a bracelet, key card, smartphone that would allow them access to statement and also pay for items on the ship and also find their way around.

Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International are the parts of a parent company known as Royal Caribbean Cruises.

They have started with an overhauling of the mobile experience.

A new mobile app would be launched within midyear to permit passengers to control their ship better during and also after the trip, as asserted by Mike Giresi who is the chief information officer of the cruise company. During the latter part of 2017, the apps would be enriched with greater capabilities for itinerary planning, e-commerce, conflict management and other options.

Alongside that, Royal Caribbean is also making attempts to create a new guest-centric infrastructural facility that would go a long way to synchronize and integrate data.

Royal Caribbean is also trying to explore the field of artificial intelligence.

Giresi said that the company is making efforts to introduce voice-activated concierges for Celebrity Edge.

Carnival Corporation, the largest cruise company of the world would be unveiling a brand new project on Thursday at CES, a technology event in Las Vegas. A unique guest experience would be created that would modify the look of vacation forever.

In addition, Carnival Cruise Line has also announced that it would soon be coming up with its Carnival HUB app that it is going to offer in its new ships.

This app would emphasize features including a planner, shore excursions, weather, food menus and so on.
