Cruise names Dan Ammann as new chief executive officer

Cruise has named Dan Ammann as its new CEO, effective as of January 2019.

His appointment marks the company’s next big step in the commercialization of its autonomous vehicle technology.

In his role as president at General Motors, Dan Ammann spearheaded the 2016 Cruise acquisition and, among his other global responsibilities, oversaw GM’s relationship with Cruise. Because of this, he is deeply familiar with Cruise’s business and technology and its team.

GM chairman and CEO Mary Barra said that these appointments further demonstrate their  commitment to transforming mobility through the safe deployment of self-driving technology and move us closer to our vision for a future with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. As they move toward commercial deployment, adding Dan to the strong team led by Kyle is the next step.
