A passenger named Shinna Alexander has been quite excited to go on a week-long cruise voyage to Puerto Rico in a beautiful Royal Caribbean cruise. She has plans to travel to Haiti and St. Marteen in this luxury cruise liner. She said that she had been on a cruise before and she absolutely loved the experience. So naturally, she was quite keen on going on a second cruise.
However, Alexander is fearful because she has learnt of late that she is pregnant and is anxious that she might get bitten by a mosquito.
Norwegian Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line said that they were monitoring the situation quite closely. They also said that they were encouraging passengers to sail at later dates by offering them credit and they were even motivating them to change their itineraries.
A spokesperson of Carnival Cruise Line said that they have decided to allow pregnant travellers to move about the fleet and steer clear of itineraries with Zika-affected ports. Such women were even encouraged to take early vacations if they wished to do so.
Shinna Alexander said that though her parents and siblings were eager to set sail on the cruise, she could not afford to take any risks and ruin the chances of delivering a normal baby.
The Carnival Elation laves from Jaxport actually goes to the Bahamas. Bahamas is not included in the list of nations that has a CDC travel advisory.
