Cuba registered a record 2016 in terms of tourism by touching the four million mark. According to Ministry of Tourism, the number of tourist arrivals till Dec 30 grew by 6% as compared to what it had been planned for 2016, and by 13% on a year to year basis compared to 2015.
In terms of region, North America and Europe were the two markets from which most of the tourists came to the island, though countries from other parts of the world also contributed a good share of visitors with increasing figures, the Ministry points out.
‘This new record of arrivals sets a commitment to continue on the ascending road to higher goals, raise the quality of services and heighten efficiency’, the official statement adds.
It underlines that the record number is an acknowledgment of the workers in the tourist industry, of travel agents inside and outside the country, of the Government for its consistent support.
