The Great Kacharpari Carnival which was held recently in the Inca city of Cusco attracted thousands of domestic and foreign tourists. Travellers joined locals and colourful troupes at the main square.
The activity began at 10 AM with several delegations gathered at Ave. El Sol. This was the starting point before moving to the main square, where an Andean-type stage was raised for the occasion.
The event brought together organisations, associations, markets and winners from provincial carnival-like festivities, mainly from the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
During the celebration, locals invited visitors to dance and join the parade. Participants were urged to be cautious when playing with water.
