Cyprus achieves record year in tourism with British arrivals up by 8%

cyprusUK travellers figures in Cyprus has rose by more than 8% in 2017 making it a record breaking year for tourism.  In 2016, the UK tourists’ numbers to Cyprus rose from 1.15 million to 1.25 million. Total visitor arrivals grew by 14.6% to reach 3.6 million in 2017.

 

 

 

 

July was the most popular month with 176,880 arrivals from the UK out of a total of 531,030. August saw a fall of numbers to 523,651 in the global arrival tourists’ numbers but it was the biggest month for UK visitors at 185,831. Latest figures from the Cyprus Tourism Organisation for December show the UK and Greece being main sources of winter tourism.

 

 

 

 

According to the latest figures revealed by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, the UK and Greece were the main markets for December tourism market in Cyprus. Tourist arrivals from the UK increased by 8% year-on-year in December to 28,218.

 

 

 

 

Of those visiting in December, 36.2% were visiting friends and relatives and 12.4% were there for business. Most of the inbound travellers were in between the age of 20-44 years. CTO UK director Orestis Rossides said: “We’re proud of achieving another record breaking year for visitors to Cyprus. We look forward to offering visitors to Cyprus a warm welcome in 2018 and hope it will be yet another successful year for us.”
