Arrivals of tourists in Cyprus in April 2017 recorded an increase of 26.9% compared to April 2016, reaching 286.331 compared to 225.575 the same period last year. This was the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus for the month of April.
Tourists from the UK increased by 16.3% in April 2017 compared to April 2016 while an increase of 21.8% was recorded for tourists from Russia. Increases were also recorded from other important tourist markets like Germany (156.6%) and Israel (77.0%). However, Greece recorded a decrease of 2.5% in tourist arrivals.
The UK and Russia were the main sources of tourism for Cyprus for April 2017. Men comprised 44.7% of tourists and women 55.3%, and most of the tourists belonged to the age group of 20-44 years.
The Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO) said, “The positive results of today, should lay the groundwork for even higher performance tomorrow.”
