Dubai Business Events (DBE) that is the official convention bureau of the city has claimed that it has witnessed strong output for the initial half of the year 2017, where 97 bids were submitted to arrange business events awarded to this city.
The events secured meetings, exhibitions, incentives and convention trips are expected to lure more than 51,636 delegates from various parts of the world, resulting in an expected economic impact of about AED 375 million.
Issam Kazim who is the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing said that Dubai has expanded substantially to emerge as an important destination for global business events.
He added that Dubai respects the importance of the business events industry and acknowledge the different growth facets to becoming a major knowledge-sharing economy. Having said that, business events are also important contributors towards their goal of welcoming 20 million tourists every year within 2020.
In the first six months of 2017, Dubai Business Events had won a total of 97 pitches to conduct business events.
Currently, it s waiting for the verdict on 97 more that have already been submitted. Some of the important wins comprise Congress of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professionals (2022), World Conference on Desalination and Water Re-Use (2019) and Baby Care Annual Incentive (2018).
Steen Jakobsen, Director, Dubai Business Events said that they enjoyed a beautiful start to the year and therefore are well on their journey to meeting their targets set for 2017.
Jakobsen said that they are also making efforts to expand their network ad reach globally, making it possible for events buyers, planners and businesses to benefit from their expertise.
