Delay of American Airlines flight sparks complaints

American AirlinesThe American Airlines flight that was heading towards Auckland from Los Angeles got delayed by 16 hours forcing its passengers to spend an entire night at the terminal.

 

This flight had been scheduled to leave the LAX airport on Sunday at 10.40 pm. according to the local time. However, the airliner finally left the airport the following day at around 2.19 pm. The flight has been scheduled to arrive at Auckland this evening at 10.28 pm.

 

Vinson Pakipaki had no choice but to sleep at the terminal with his two-year-old daughter Reign and 10-year-year-old sister Abigail.

 

One of the travel agents told the reporters that Pakipaki had to wait at least two hours at a queue at the counter of the airline. He had said that the authorities took 30 to 40 minutes to provide service to each passenger.

 

The flight contains as many as 280 passengers.

 

Pakipaki had gone to a hotel. But, since there was no space to accommodate any more people in the hotel, Pakipaki had no other option but to spend the night inside the terminal.

 

According to him, the authorities of the airport were quite negligent about the passengers, as per the complaint of one of the passengers. There were more such complaints from the passengers who had arrived at the LAX Airport.

 

The travel agent said that he would not sell anymore tickets of American Airlines till they had established an infrastructure good enough that would be able to accommodate passengers of New Zealand.

 

Keith Richards said that Rose Souza Richards, his wife was waiting to board the airliner since she was looking forward to return home from a business trip. However, due to the flight’s delay, she finally had to sleep inside the airport terminal.

 

This passenger said that the authorities of this airliner were offering different explanations to different people.

 

Some people were told that the delay was due to a delay in another flight that was to arrive from New York. But then, others were informed that the delay was only due to a technical fault that had developed in the plane.

 

Keith Richards said that the staff could not provide overnight accommodation when his wife requested them for it. Instead, they offered to reimburse her US$150.

 

This delay also made his wife miss the domestic flight to Wellington from Auckland.
