This incident occurred around 9.30 a.m. when the pilot suddenly received a system warning about a complication inside the engine of the aircraft.
Anthony Black who is the spokesperson of Delta Air Lines said that the pilot had shut down the engine as a precautionary measure and diverted the airplane the McGhee Tyson Airport of Knoxville. The airplane was an MD88.
Eventually it was capable of making an absolutely safe landing with no issues.
And it had been carrying 145 passengers, none of whom have been hurt as a consequence of the emergency landing.
Then Delta dispatched an additional aircraft to pick the passengers and resume the flight. The flight was then scheduled to arrive in Cleveland a little after 10.30 a.m. but it would now be arriving after 2 p.m. There us yet to be any official comment as to what had actually caused the problems with the engine.
Caitlin Darras associated with McGhee Tyson said that they had received an alert about a mechanical diversion involving with a Delta MD80 around 9.24 a.m.
Currently there is no further information about the incident.
