A Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman, Kathleen Bergen said that the Delta Boeing 717 left Tampa, Fla., at about 7:35 a.m. and within 2 hours, it had to declare an emergency landing at the Raleigh Durham International Airport about two hours because of some issues in the left engine.
Officials said that there were 94 passengers in the flight and five crew members.
Delta spokesman Michael Thomas said, “The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority and we apologize for the inconvenience.”
Maintenance workers are trying to find what caused the problem with the engine.
Another plane has been sent to Raleigh, and is supposed to land at LaGuardia Airport at 1:30 p.m., which is behind three hours to the original schedule.
