The new terminal will replace La Guardia’s existing terminal C and D and is expected to be completed by 2026. The announcement was made after the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey gave final nod on Thursday evening to lease agreement with Delta.
The cost of the project $3.4 will be provided by Delta along with the responsibility of cost overruns. The Port authority has committed $600 million . The project will accompany $4 billion, five-year renovation of LaGuardia’s main terminal, Terminal B which the Port Authority contractor LaGuardia Gateway Partners started work on last summer.
Transportation , parking, taxiway and other infrastructure improvements was also included in the Gateway portion.
The renovated Delta’s new terminal will have four concourses connected via centralized check-in lobby, security point and check in lobby area.
There will be new Delta Sky Club, the terminal will have widened concourses, larger gate area, more seating and thirty percent more concession space than the existing terminals.
After the completion of Gateway and Delta , LaGuardia’s terminals B,C and D will be unified. Passengers will be able to reach the gates from the check-in via bridges that will cross over the taxiway.
