deltalogo_11431228Delta has been named one of the nation’s “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” for the second year in a row. The accolade comes via the 2017 Disability Equality Index, an extensive survey presented by the U.S. Business Leadership Network (USBLN) and American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). Delta received a perfect score on the survey, just as it did the year before.

Delta named a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion”“Delta works hard to provide a workplace that’s inclusive of all employees and this recognition is confirmation that we are on track with many of the leading disability inclusion practices,” said Keyra Lynn Johnson, Managing Director – Global Diversity and Inclusion. “Even with a score of 100 percent on this survey, we remain focused on continuous improvements to practices and policies that remove barriers and promote diversity and inclusion.”

Companies were graded on their disability inclusion efforts within four categories:

Culture and leadership
Enterprise-wide access
Employment practices
Community engagement and support services
Each category was assigned a “weight,” and companies were able to earn a total of 100 points. All companies identified in this year’s survey results obtained a minimum score of 80 points.

As part of its commitment to making air travel accessible for all, Delta regularly receives input from its Advisory Board on Disability, a group comprised of customers with disabilities and thought leaders in the accessibility space, as well as from its employee group, ABLE Network on Disability.

“Honors such as this one validate Delta’s efforts to enhance both the work environment of its employees and travel experience of its customers with disabilities,” said David Martin, Program Manager – Disabilities, DOT Compliance and Delta Liaison to the Advisory Board on Disability. “Every step we take toward becoming the carrier of choice for people with disabilities benefits everyone.”
