Delta recently sponsored the 2017 Young Enterprise Company Program event, the UK Company of the Year Awards. Since September, teams of students from across the United Kingdom have created and operated real businesses. Fourteen teams were selected to participate in the grand finale.
Young Enterprise is the U.K.’s leading charity empowering young people to harness their personal and business skills and make the connection between school and the world of work, enabling young people to develop the knowledge and attitudes they need to succeed.
Delta supports young adults in partnership with Young Enterprise and Tomorrow’s store in LondonMentored by teachers, teams of students developed and implemented companies in addition to their everyday school activities.
“It was amazing to see the passion, creativity and teamwork among all 14 teams that made it to the Young Enterprise Company of the Year U.K national finals,” said Sumanth Rao, Director – International Finance EMEAI region. “As a judge, it was really difficult to pick a single winner since all the teams that had made it to this level performed extremely well. Delta’s partnership with YE in sponsoring this event improves our visibility in the U.K especially with the students who are our future employees and customers.”
VenturePad won the Company of the Year award with their invention of a waterproof notebook and will represent the UK in Brussels next week for the European Finals.
Delta supports young adults in partnership with Young Enterprise and Tomorrow’s store in LondonDelta presented the Pursuit of Opportunity Award to ‘Link IT’, for their invention of an NFC (contactless) wristband capable of storing medical information.
Delta also participated in the opening of Tomorrow’s Store in London, which is supported by the Prince’s Trust. Tomorrow’s Store is a retail sales outlet for merchandise produced by students in the Trust’s Enterprise Program.
Delta partners with Young Enterprise in the U.K., a part of the Junior Achievement Worldwide. Delta partners with 28 Junior Achievement chapters on four continents. Young Enterprise and Prince’s Trust both work to further Delta’s Community Engagement goals of advancing education of young people and providing them with the tools to succeed in the business world.
