Delta to support research at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital

Published on : Saturday, February 11, 2017

GOSHDelta is partnering with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to help fund pioneering research at the world-famous children’s hospital. Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is globally renowned as a leading children’s hospital and the charity raises vital funds to support it.

Money raised by Delta through the partnership, which includes a corporate donation and fundraising events,  will contribute towards GOSH’s research program, which develops more effective and kinder treatments for the patients, many of whom have the rarest, most complex and often life-threatening conditions.

Love GOSH Valentine’s BallDelta has an established program of charitable support in the U.K. and around the world, and this new collaboration will also offer Delta employees volunteering opportunities. The partnership will commence in February when Delta co-sponsors the charity’s Valentine’s Ball, ‘Love GOSH’.  Money raised at Love GOSH will help fund a new specialist four-bed bay in the hospital’s surgery centre, where children can be monitored closely after their operation.

Tim Johnson, Chief Executive at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity says: “We are delighted to launch our new partnership with Delta Air Lines, and look forward to working closely with them to raise awareness and vital funds for the hospital’s pioneering research programme. For many seriously ill children at GOSH, research is their only hope and so we are hugely grateful for Delta’s support and really excited about what we can achieve together.”

“Access to specialist healthcare can save lives and this is why we’re committed to supporting the work of GOSH,” said Nat Pieper, Delta’s Senior Vice President – Europe, Middle East, Africa & India. “The U.K. is one of our largest global markets, and it’s important for Delta to show its commitment to the region and our customers here by giving back to notable causes, including GOSH.”

The charity was chosen by Delta as part of the airline’s commitment to supporting children’s hospitals through its funding of global health and wellness. Through Community Affairs, Delta partners with 18 children’s hospitals around the world. Employees will also be invited to volunteer for the charity, for instance by supporting the charity’s calendar of events including the London Marathon in April.
