Overall passenger traffic at DIA increased 1.5 percent in April to 4,223,220 passengers, compared with 4,161,815 passengers in April 2014. The year-to-date passenger traffic at DIA is down slightly through the end of April, with 16,436,624 passengers so far in 2015, compared to 16,542,752 passengers during the same time in 2014.
“As we enter the busy summer travel season, we are seeing strong increases in capacity by many of our airline partners,” said airport CEO Kim Day. “United, Southwest, American, Delta and Spirit all had increases in passengers in April, and we continue to see strong gains in international passenger traffic among United, Lufthansa, British Airways and Volaris as, increasingly, travelers are using Denver to connect with the world.”
Additionally, mail, freight and express cargo operations handled 45,393,983 pounds of cargo in April, an increase of 5 percent over the same time last year, and the largest cargo total for the month of April since 2011. Through the end of April, cargo operations at DIA are up 11 percent over last year.
