Derek Charles Gomez has been appointed as the new food and beverage director at the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa, Malaysia.
The veteran has served in hotels in Malaysia, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia and in his new role he will see the hotel’s dining establishment. This will include their signature Seasonal Tastes restaurant, the Mediterranean-themed Tide, poolside bar Splash and the open air Anjung Damai, outdoor terrace bar Breeze Lounge and Float.
He will also look after the Langkawi International Convention Centre and enhance the conferencing experience bringing it to the next level.
Gomez said that the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa is among the best in Langkawi, if not Malaysia. He felt honoured to be a part of this premier establishment.
He went on saying that during his tenure in Vietnam, he learnt the difference in culture, people and environment, hotel guests and offerings.
He was looking forward that the guests enjoy the high standards they expect from an international brand.
Bordered by the Andaman Sea, the Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa is located on 104 acres of lush tropical gardens. It has 221 spacious, fully appointed rooms and suites.
Derek Gomez holds a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Catering Management from the University of Toulouse in France.
