“Each Vivid Sydney Program continues to outshine the last and 2018 will be no different with special designs to celebrate a decade of what has turned into Australia’s most visited major event,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“The ever popular Customs House will feature once again, with a gorgeous animation of May Gibbs’ classic characters Snugglepot & Cuddlepie, celebrating their 100th birthday since their stories were first published.
“There is also an important addition to Vivid Sydney’s Harbour footprint this year, with Luna Park joining as a new precinct.
“Every year we are attracting more and more people to our State because of our world class events. Since 2011 the overnight visitor spend from Vivid Sydney has gone from $6 million to $143 million.”
Mr Marshall said all eyes would turn to the Sydney Opera House during Vivid Sydney with an unforgettable projection across the sails for the 10th anniversary.
“Visitors will be captivated by a fantastical blend of everyday objects and Australian motifs from science, nature and culture by North Coast NSW artist Jonathan Zawada,” he said.
“As Minister responsible for TAFE NSW, I am also delighted to announce that TAFE NSW students will again have the opportunity to gain incredibly valuable work experience as part of Vivid Sydney.
“In a collaborative effort across various campuses from Sydney and rural and regional NSW, students have designed beautiful lighthouse structures for the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney; and a 3D large-scale mapped projection for the Vivid Sydney debut of Government House.”
Vivid Sydney returns from 25 May to 16 June, 2018.
