unnamed-6International Railway Journal (IRJ) and IRITS Events Ltd are delighted to announce the participation of Deutsche Bahn, German state-owned railway operator and infrastructure owner. Deutsche Bahn will be represented by Dr Kay-Uwe May, responsible for technical and environmental management, and Jan Grothe, Head of Procurement Principles & IT Systems, at the 4th International Railway Summit, taking place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris.

Deutsche Bahn is the largest rail operator and infrastructure owner in Europe and one of the largest transport companies in the world, carrying roughly 2 billion rail passengers every year. The organisation employs 300,000 people to deliver mobility and logistical services in over 130 countries.

Deutsche Bahn have instituted a “Future of the Railway” programme, in response to market competitivity, economic challenges and the pace of technological change, a key element of which will be the recently developed “World Class Procurement” strategy for DB Group. The strategy involves greater coordination between group subsidiaries, the internationalisation, streamlining and digitalisation of the supply chain, and a stricter supplier qualification process to seek out high quality and innovative products.

The “Future of the Railway” programme will also have a strong focus on sustainability, aiming to achieve an effective balance of economic, social and environmental objectives.

Dr May and Mr Grothewill be VIP guests at the International Railway Summit and will take part in one-to-one consultation meetings with participating technology solution providers as well as in networking functions throughout the summit. International Railway Summit is an exclusive platform for rail sector leaders to get free bespoke consultation for their future projects based on a unique matchmaking service between buyers’ requirements and experts’ knowledge.

Organisations and individuals interested in learning more about International Railway Summit and about how they can participate in the event can or contact the organisers, IRJ and IRITS Events.

International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key rail operators, rail infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.

International Railway Summit provides a ‘matchmaking’ service between rail industry leaders (‘buyers’) and technical experts (‘suppliers’), based on buyer delegates’ project requirements and the proven expertise of large and small suppliers that we have carefully handpicked. Based on this matchmaking, buyer delegates attend one-to-one consultation sessions with suitable suppliers during the annual summit.

In addition to the one-to-one meetings, delegates also attend a conference programme given by key industry leaders and experts and network over lunches and dinners with their counterparts and industry colleagues from all over the world. International Railway Summit is co-hosted by International Railway Journal and IRITS Events and will take place on 15-17 February 2017 in Paris, France.
