Beginning Saturday, Nov. 9, motorists picking up and dropping off passengers at Denver International Airport’s (DIA) Terminal East will notice minor changes to their routes as they leave the airport. Crews will implement the following slight detours for Levels 4 and 6 of DIA’s Terminal East to allow for the demolition and reconstruction of the elevated roadways that carry traffic exiting the east side of the terminal:
Crews will begin implementing the Terminal East detours at 11 p.m. on Friday. The detours will all be in place no later than 6 a.m. Saturday. All changes are for the east side of the terminal only and will not impact Terminal West traffic or parking. Additional staff will be in place at Terminal East passenger pick-up and drop-off to assist motorists with the new exit routes.
The Terminal East roadway detours will be in place through late 2014. Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures during this time. Once complete, all of the elevated roadways on the south side of the terminal will be in their permanent alignments.
Airlines located on Terminal East include AirTran, Alaska Air, Delta, Frontier, Great Lakes, JetBlue, Southwest and Spirit Airlines.
Transit Center Program. The $544 million program includes the construction of a 519-room
Westin hotel and conference center, a public plaza and a transit center which will serve all RTD buses and the new East Rail Line which will connect DIA to downtown Denver’s Union Station.
