Dinosaurs bringing back tourists to Winton

Dinosaurs WintonBanjo Paterson, almost 95 million years ago wrote Waltzing Matilda outside Winton where herd of dinosaurs stampeded. One may still find their imprints in stone close to the Queensland town.

In current context, those imprints are playing an instrumental role for a thriving tourism industry than mere fond memories of the 19th century. Winton still holds Banjo close to its heart, famous to have composed Waltzing Matilda at Dagworth Station in 1885.

The town is slowly gaining international importance because of its paleontological existence that is for sure about to make the town of international repute.

Only museum to be dedicated to a song in the world, the Winton Waltzing Matilda Centre got burned in 2015 demolishing the entire community completely. Supported by curious Queenslanders, the management finally decided to unveil $ 1.2 million expansion of this project on Easter Sunday.


Executive chairman David Elliott explains that the second stage of revamping of the museum will certainly establish itself as a top international attraction in the coming days. To quote the executive chairman, ‘’ There is simply no other operation in the world doing what we are doing.’’
