bmi regionalbmi regional starts operating a new direct route from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport to Birmingham. The great demand for connectivity to Great Britain’s second largest city means a frequency of six departures a week beginning on the 8th May 2017.

Birmingham in the British West Midlands has a business life related to Gothenburg which is home to businesses ranging from multi-national companies through to small entrepreneurs, in sectors ranging from pharmaceuticals to manufacturing and automotive. Therefore the route will be in strong demand by the western Swedish business life. The route will also offer more capacity to the increasing number of Swedish leisure customers to the UK as well as British visitors in Gothenburg.

As many of the industries of Birmingham and Gothenburg are similar this new direct route has been highly demanded by the local business life. Therefore this is a joint effort by the airport, Göteborg Business Region and the Western Sweden Chamber of Commerce. Also the number of leisure customers between UK and Sweden are increasing so we are happy that bmi regional are adding this new capacity, says Charlotte Ljunggren, Airport Director at Gothenburg Landvetter Airport.
