A Disney imagineer who had helped design Disneyland Paris, Epcot and other popular tourist attractions including the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean has been planning to create a new theme park in Northern Carolina.
The imagineer who is known as Bob Baranick has planned to come up with ‘Whirligig Woods’ in Saxapahaw in Alamance County close to Haw River by the year 2019, as per multiple reports.
Saxaphaw is located at distance of nearly 20 miles from the western part of Chapel Hill and about an hour from Raleigh.
Baranick has also purchased 21 acres for the creation of this brand new park close to Stockard Road and N.C. Highway 87. This ‘boutique’ theme park would commence with a train ride and a few other interesting attractions and would continue to expand over the years.
The other additions comprise a haunted land and also a tree house resort.
Furthermore, Baranick also has a plan for making way for two more parks in the state. However, details on those are yet to be revealed.
Baranick has already worked extensively on some Disney attractions as an imagineer. It has over 40 years of themed entertainment design. He has also worked on Universal Studios, Hershey’s, Busch Entertainment, Six Flags, Warner Studious and Paramount Parks.
Also, he has consulted on projects around the world and this includes those on Korea, Abu Dhabi, China and Turkey.
