Qatar Airways and the Hamad International Airport announce an exceptionally heavy traffic during the peak holiday season in Doha. More than 500,000 passengers traveled on board Qatar Airways, despite the current regional travel restrictions imposed by the neighboring countries.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker announced: “Despite the current restrictions imposed on the airline, our capacities are booked to and from Doha and run smoothly. In the past seven days, 510,949 passengers have traveled via the Hamad International Airport on board more than 2,900 flights. During the peak travel time to Eid Al-Fitr, 22-24th June, started 49,794 of these passengers on flights directly from Doha. ”
Hamad International Airport reported that 19 million passengers have been transported from January to June 2017th These are 8 percent more than the previous year. Qatar Airways will continue to operate the majority of the existing network from more than 150 destinations. 90 percent of these flights are launched on time. after IATA regulation is a flight on time if it is started within 15 minutes of scheduled departure time.
the airline also continues on its expansion plans. after the launch of their new route to Dublin (Ireland) on June 12, then follow the routes to Nice (France) on July 4 and to Skopje (Macedonia) on 17 July. additional new destinations by the end of the year and 2018 Las Vegas (USA) , Canberra (Australia), Douala (Cameroon), Libreville (Gabon), Medan (Indonesia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Santiago (Chile) and Sarajevo (Bosnia and H erzegowina) and many more.
Earlier this month, the airline published its Annual Report for fiscal year 2017 and presented a net profit of 541 million US dollars, an increase of 21.7 percent over the previous year. The results also show an annual increase in sales of 10.4 percent.
As a sign of the continued success of Qatar Airways, the airline received at the Paris Air Show for the fourth time the award for the airline of the year by Skytrax. In addition, she was awarded the prizes for the world’s best business class, the world’s best first class airline lounge and the best airline in the Middle East. The hub of the airline, the Hamad International Airport, was evaluated in this year with five stars by Skytrax. He is one of the only five airports that have received this award.
