The island of Ireland was promoted as a top destination for business tourism in the United States recently, at the fourth annual Meeting & Incentive Forum (M&I Forum) The Americas 2016, which took place in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Tourism Ireland, together with 11 Irish tourism businesses, took part in the four-day B2B event – which involved networking events, as well as one-on-one meetings matching the participating Irish operators with influential American meeting and incentive buyers.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “We were delighted to participate in this year’s M&I Forum The Americas. This type of event provides us with a really good opportunity to highlight the island of Ireland to influential business tourism buyers and to spread the word about our world-class meetings, conference and incentive facilities.”
Business tourism is the most lucrative form of tourism, with visitors travelling here for business purposes spending about 2.5 times more than the average visitor.
