In 2017, Israel is expected to receive good number of visitors as market shows a steady growth in the arrival since last year. Benito C. Bengzon Jr, Tourism Undersecretary for Market Development in a statement said that visitor arrival will reach 22,000 this year. To quote Benito, ‘’ considering that among Israel travelers, the Philippines is gaining preference as an emerging tourism destination”.
Israeli arrivals in Philippines rose to 42.3 percent in last year superseding the visitor’s market of Philippines. Bengzon returned from a recent trip to Israel in order to attend the 23rd International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) held at the TLV Convention Center in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel.
Participated by more than 25,000 tourism and travel executives intermittently, the IMTM is the largest annual professional tourism fair in the entire Eastern Mediterranean. This event endorses inbound, domestic and outbound tourism, and provides an excellent opportunity to fortify collaboration among various tourism bodies within Israel and other foreign countries. To quote Wanda Corazon T. Teo, Tourism Secretary, ‘’ Israelis are drawn to our country mainly for vacation and leisure. At an average of 20 nights per trip, their favorite places include Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Banaue and Puerto Galera.”
