Zimbabweans are known for their hard work, resilience, intelligence, composure and non-violent nature. Zimbabwe’s Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Dr. Walter Mzembi is contesting for the post of the Secretary-General of the UNWTO.
His campaigning needs serious funding from the government and the corporate world. So far, he has been struggling with finances and there’s an urgent need to come up with serious and sustainable funding. Without funding his campaign carries no meaning. The post falls vacant in May this year, when the current UNWTO’s Secretary-General’s term expires.
Dr. Mzembi will contest for the post with other noteworthy contenders like Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili of Georgia, Marcio Favilla Lucca de Paula of Brazil, Mrs. Gloria Guevara of Mexico, Mr. Alain St. Ange of Seychelles and Mr. Lahcen Haddad of Morocco. Africa has full confidence in Dr. Mzembi’s thought leadership, his depth of character and qualifications for winning the coveted title. The countdown for the title has already started.
