The tourist industry experts of Dubai have predicted that it would witness a rise of at least 18% cruise ship calls during the year 2016 to 2017 that would lead to 157 ship calls. Also, it would encourage about 6,00,000 cruise tourists to arrive in this city.
The season of Dubai Cruise Tourism has commenced this month. Thomson Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line are expected to make their debut foray into this region.
Thomson Cruises would be the first-ever cruise line based in UK to arrive in Dubai that would lead to 12 calls and usher in 25,000 cruise ship tourists to Dubai. The year 2015 to 2016 in Dubai saw the number of cruise passengers rise by 19% and ship calls rise by 24% as compared to the previous year, according to an official statement.
Ever since the year 2014, Dubai Cruise has seen a significant growth, especially following the implementation of the UAE visa.
The introduction of the multiple-entry UAE visa has motivated the good performance of emerging markets including Russia, South America, China and India. Jamal Humaid Al Falasi, director, Dubai Cruise Tourism said that their new cruise tourism strategy would strengthen their aim to attract 1 million tourists to Dubai within 2020.
Dubai Cruise Tourism said that it is working along with Emirates Airlines, Dubai Immigration, Dubai Customs and DP World and other important stakeholders to offer comprehensive support and increase the convenience between the travellers and the cruise lines.
