DubaiBy 2020, Dubai aims to look for prospective markets in uplifting tourism and welcoming 20 million visitors in the coming years by overcoming challenges like Brexit and Indian demonetization.

To quote Issam Kazim, CEO, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, ‘’ we have increased the number of markets we are looking at. So we are opening up new markets and working closely with our partners — airlines and hotels.” He emphasized that last year demonetization and slump in Saudi Arabia’s financial condition had created an impact on tourist inflow in Dubai whatsoever. Though in 2016, the number of Indians visiting Dubai showed a growth of 12 percent, demonetization was a blow to the travel industry as well.

India still manages to maintain numero uno spot regards to number of visitors in Dubai for the second time in the consecutive year. To quote Kazim, ‘’ we have seen great numbers from India in the past two years. India had become number one key source market for 2015 and they have maintained the number one position for the second year now. We have seen 1.8 million arrivals from India last year, which was 12% growth over 2015. Saudi was our key source market earlier and India surpassed Saudi in 2015”.
