Visitors coming to Dubai Miracle Garden now can view a world record-setting structure – an 18-meter floral Mickey Mouse, which was unveiled on Sunday.
The structure was awarded the Guinness World Record certificate. Engineer Abdul Nasser Rahhal, the brain behind the Dubai Miracle Garden, spoke about what it took to build the latest attraction in Dubai.
Rahhal said, “We used almost 10 tonnes of steel and 100,000 plants. We employed over 100 workers, engineers and designers with 50 tonnes of concrete foundation.”
Rahhal explained that the new attraction in the Dubai Miracle Garden is part of the upcoming 90-year anniversary of Mickey Mouse, and is the first floral sculpture as part of the agreement with Walt Disney Company. More Walt Disney-themed structures and projects would come up in the future. The sculpture features almost 100,000 plants and flowers (including White Petunia, Red Petunia, White Geranium, Yellow Viola, Zinnia Marigold and Green Alternanthera), weighs almost 35 tons, and is supported by a 7-ton steel structure with a foundation of 50 tons of reinforced concrete.
