Record 104,843 Japan overnight visitors visited Dubai in 2018 as per the Dubai Tourism. It represents a 15.3 per cent year-on-year increase from 2017. Senior citizens, and women especially young females are the key drivers in travel and tourism for the south-east Asian country. Dubai Tourism has partnered with H.I.S. CO., LTD, a market travel agency in Japan to promote and to provide easy access to Dubai’s travel products.
Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai’s Corporation of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DCTCM) said, “2018 saw sustained growth from the Japanese market as we welcomed more than 100,000 overnight visitors a year for the very first time. With the market enthusiastic to learn more about the city, we will continue to work to enhance our holistic marketing efforts and strengthen our ongoing strategic partnerships with key industry leaders.”
India was the top source market with a total of 206,000 tourists visiting Dubai followed by Saudi Arabia with a total of 160,000 tourists.
Visitors flocked to attractions such as the Palm Jumeirah as well as to local shopping and music festivals in this Middle East country.
According to data by the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing, the country recorded a total of 1.61 million tourists in January 2019 as compared to 1.58 million tourists who visited in January 2018.
