Dubai’s abra rides find favor among tourists

AbraDuring the initial half of the year, residents and tourists made a dash for the abras in Dubai thereby making it one of the most preferred form of marine transport in Dubai.


Over 6.2 million commuters regularly avail the abras as per the Roads and Transport Authority.


Abdullah Yousef Al Ali who is the chief executive of the RTA’s Public Transport Agency mentioned that the abras are immensely attractive as an ideal historical marine transit system as it beautifully fuses a blend of the past and the future.


Abras are of different types including air-conditioned, electrical, traditional and so on.


The general masses seem to be very keen about utilizing abras as a popular mode of transport as they appear to be extremely convenient. The water bus can rank second with 243,020 riders, followed by a ferry carrying 127,385 riders and a water taxi utilized by 16,705 commuters.


The authority of public transport in Dubai promotes the concept of abras to enable tourists to visit the historical buildings and other tourist attractions across the emirate.
