Australian polar travel specialist, Active Travel, is offering an international flight saving of A$1000 on all its Antarctica cruises next summer with One Ocean Expeditions if booked before May 31, 2016.
Twenty four sailings are available from October, 2016, to March, 2017, aboard One Ocean Expeditions’ two polar dedicated expedition ships, Akademik Ioffe, and the Akademik Sergey Vavilov, which serve as floating wilderness lodges off the icy coast of the great white continent.
The cruises feature wildlife sightings, zodiac trips ashore, sea kayaking, lecture programs, the chance to camp on the ice for a night, and, of course, stunning scenery of glaciers, icebergs and mountains.
The cruises are offered by Active Travel in partnership with One Ocean Expeditions, an independently owned operator with a strong social and environmental conscience. With almost 10 years’ experience, One Ocean has the highest staff-to-guest ratio in the industry and is renowned for its personalised service.
One of the most popular Antarctic cruises on offer is the 11-day Antarctic Peninsula Adventure, which departs the Argentine port of Ushuaia – the world’s most southerly city – on December 8 & 18, 2016, February 15 & 25, 2017, and March 16, 2017. Aboard Akademik Ioffe, passengers will visit seal and penguin colonies, historic huts and scientific stations and take part in guided hikes on shore, zodiac cruising and a memorable night spent camping on the ice. After several days exploring the Antarctic Peninsula, the ship will head for the South Shetland Islands, where passengers can explore Deception Island, with its historic whaling station and spectacular active volcano, before returning to South America.
The 11-day cruise costs from US$10,095 per person, twin-share, including hire of polar wet weather gear and the opportunity to camp on the ice. Passengers will receive a A$1000 per person travel credit if the cruise is booked with Active Travel before May 31, 2016. The credit can be used for international flights to South America booked through Active Travel. Pre/post cruise accommodation and touring around South America can also booked through Active Travel.
