Europe, due to its peculiar and profound cultural deposits, plus the Milano Expo in Italy, is becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the summer. UnionPay International announced on June 30, it’s very convenient to use UnionPay cards in Europe, UnionPay Cardholders should feel completely confident using their UnionPay Cards wherever UnionPay is accepted within the region. Since June 2015, the transaction via UnionPay cards in European markets has witnessed an increase of over 50%, countries like Italy, German and France are favored by Chinese tourists.
Since this year, UnionPay International has started to expand its investment and card acceptance in European markets, especially in France, Italy and German. In France, another 100,000 merchants and over 5,600 ATMs begin to accept UnionPay card payment. In Italy, UnionPay International is in cooperation with the largest acquirer CartaSi, to further increase the local UnionPay card acceptance. In German, UnionPay card can be used to withdraw cash at all ATMS under Deutsche Bank. In Spain, UnionPay is in cooperation with the the largest switch of bankcard transaction, ServiRed to add up 150,000 merchants and 5,500 ATMs accept UnionPay cards. UnionPay card acceptance is expanding in Europe to provide all cardholders with a more convenient and preferential card-using experience.
At present, UnionPay card business has been launched in 38 countries and regions in Europe. Almost all of the ATMs in England, Switzerland, Austria and Portugal accept UnionPay cards. In France, Italy, Spain, German and other popular European countries among tourists, UnionPay card acceptance covering all popular shopping centers, duty-free shops, hotels and restaurants, many of them offering exclusive UnionPay privileges and services of UnionPay cards. Especially in France, UnionPay canbe conveniently used in the Champs Elysees, Place Vendome, Charles de Gaulle Airport and other places frequently visited by tourists. At meantime, more than half of the local ATMs accept UnionPay cards to withdraw cash, and some the ATMs even provide Chinese interface.
As Italy gains popularity this year, cardholders can use UnionPay cards in over 80% of ATMs and about 30% of merchants. Many franchised shops frequently visited by tourists have realized the acceptance of UnionPay cards. During Milano Expo, UnionPay cards are fully accepted at the Exposition Site. UnionPay also provide their cardholders the opportunity to enjoy many exclusive privileges in Milan’s Golden Quadrilateral, Fidenza Village and other well-known business districts, among which, Anna Ravazzoli in Milan, Casato Gioielli and Kiehls offer 10% discount to all cardholders.
