East Midlands TrainsEast Midlands Trains has issued advice for people using its services to travel to and from the Championship Play-Off Final between Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City on Saturday 28 May.

A number of additional services will be running between Sheffield and London St Pancras before the match, and extra carriages will also be provided on a number of trains.

Extra services will run from Sheffield at 0800, 0918 and 1018 and trains leaving from Sheffield at 0829, 1049, 1129 and 1249 will all be longer than normal.

For fans travelling back from the match on Saturday, there will be some extra trains and more carriages but services are expected to be extremely busy and customers are strongly advised to return to St Pancras as quickly as possible for their return journey home.

Customers who have tickets pre-booked to travel home from London on Saturday after 1930, but are not going to the football and would like to travel earlier in the day to avoid the busier trains, are able to use their ticket to travel on any train returning from London between 1400-1900 if they would like to do so.

Trains for Chesterfield and Sheffield will leave from St Pancras at 2015, 2030 2045 and 2056. In addition, the 2101 will be extended to run to Chesterfield and Sheffield and an extra train will run at 2140 from St Pancras to Chesterfield and Sheffield.

All trains returning from St Pancras on the evening of Saturday 28 May are expected to be extremely busy and customers are strongly advised to note that the last service from St Pancras to Chesterfield and Sheffield will leave at 2140.

Andrew Conroy, Customer Experience Director for East Midlands Trains, said:

“We know it’s going to be a very exciting day for Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City fans and we’ve worked hard to provide as much space as we can on our trains to and from London for the final.

“We know that many fans will want to stay in London after the match and either celebrate or commiserate but our strong advice is that anybody wanting to travel back to the north on our services should head back to St Pancras as quickly as possible.

“We’ll have extra staff at St Pancras to help customers with their journeys but our strong message is for fans to be aware that the last trains will leave at 2056, 2101 and 2140 to travel north.”
