The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will conduct an emergency response drill at the Holland Tunnel on Sunday, November 17 beginning at 12:00 a.m. and ending at 6 a.m. During those hours, the eastbound lanes of the tunnel heading into New York will be closed to all traffic.
Motorists traveling to New York during this time are advised to use the Lincoln Tunnel or the George Washington Bridge. The Holland Tunnel’s New Jersey-bound lanes will be open during the drill.
The exercise is part of the agency’s ongoing drill practices, which enable agency personnel and other emergency responders to test and enhance response procedures. Members of the public may notice smoke conditions and emergency vehicles as part of the drill.
