Adam Hughes succeeded ECT chief executive Gavin Murphy. Adam Hughes would occupy the role from this month, welcoming twenty years of tourism industry experience in Rotorua and Australia.
Mr Hughes will cut his teeth in terms of tourism at Hell’s Gate and Wai Ora Spa, becoming Operations Manager in 11-year tenure.
For many years, Mr Hughes worked as i-SITE team manager at Destination Rotorua, before associating with Tourism New Zealand as trade development consultant. Later on as manager of their Australian operations wing. He received numerous awards and accolades for his work. Mr Hughes joins Tairawhiti Gisborne fresh from RedBalloon, Australia’s ground-breaking experiential gift retailer.
His previous work exposure is anticipated to support for Mr Hughes in a great way for his new role.
“Not only is Adam a great strategist and leader, but he’s also a top-quality developer of product and knows what it takes to grow tourism businesses,” Mr Murphy said.
“His experience in the digital realm is also incredibly valuable as we see the industry move further in this direction.
