EasyJet has recently come up with a brand new ‘hands free’ service that would permit passengers to check in their hand baggage at the bag drop desk. This would ensure that they are not forced to take it through the agonizing security processes on to the aircraft.
The new option would be made available at all the airports where the carrier functions apart from Gatwick.
It costs £4 per person or £10 for a group bundle per flight. EasyJet has confirmed that the option of hands free baggage can be utilized at the airport instead of during the process of booking and the fee would be taken at the bag drop counter.
Apart from that the passengers would also be offered small plastic bags to carry their essential items through the airport and would be free to take onboard any items purchased at the airport.
They would also be boarding the airplane ‘first after those with Speedy Boarding’.
The airplane has also promise that the hands free baggage would be tagged as priority items and would be among the first ones to be delivered at the baggage belt during arrivals. EasyJet said that a similar service had been started being trialled in France earlier this year and was a grand success.
More than 9,000 passengers had opted for this option in four weeks.
This had led to the decision to roll it out all through the network of the carrier, except Gatwick. Andrew Middleton who is the ancillary revenue director at EasyJet said that they had witnessed great response from customers as they upgraded to the unique experience of hands-free experience.
