Quito mayor Mauricio Rodas, the mayor of Quito city in Ecuador has requested to the foreign tourists to keep visiting the country without being intimidated by the earthquake that had hit the nation on April 16th. The mayor simply stated that “the best way to help Ecuador is to visit Ecuador”,
According to the mayor’s opinion, the best way to help Ecuador recover is to sustain recovery and rebuilding efforts of the nationals by continuing visiting the amazing country, despite difficulties and latest events.
Mayor Rodas has also reassured tourists that it is safe for visits, and that the new city has suffered minor damage while the old city hasn’t been affected by the shake at all. All the tourists’ spots including the cultural hot-spots, city attractions, hotels, restaurants and airport are open and fully functional.
Tourism has been a fulcrum part of the Ecuadorean economy. Speaking statistically, for every foreign visitor, up to seven jobs are created. After the earthquake, the need for the influx of foreign currency is essential. Ecuador, thus is all the more enthusiastically promoting trip to the Amazon, the Andes or the Galapagos which has always been the major attraction for the international tourists.
He also requested tourists to avoid cancelling of trips and Ecuador is ready to welcome them all with open arms.
