The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is allotted with Rs 1,000 crore for setting up a convention centre , ESG building and centre for excellence for Smart City apart from other revenue-generating buildings located at Dona Paula in a 2.10 lakh square metres property.
Meetings are being held every week to ensure that the convention centre and ESG complex are ready for the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) and a steering committee has been constituted.
EDC chairman Sidharth Kuncalienkar said that entire project is very important and can be compared with the Mopa airport project in terms of creation of entrepreneurial activities.
Kuncalienkar further said they were on the verge of appointing a transaction advisor and requested note proposal is in the final stages.
There will also be the appointment of a master planner for the whole facility almost 2.10 lakh sqm of land. Once both are on board they will work on appointment of a concessionary.
The deadline for the convention centre and ESG building is September 2019.
The minimum deliverables will be the centre for excellence for Smart City, convention centre and ESG building along with all the necessary screening rooms, test rooms, jury rooms, and a DFF office.
