Edinburgh has a new vision to train its travel professionals. It is important to make travel professionals knowledgeable so that they know the city at the back of their hands. An exam has been launched online.
The exam will be taken by all travel professionals to London cabbies. The course has been planned by London’s travel industry bosses with support from the Edinburgh Tourism Action Group (ETAG).
Since there are many workers who deal with millions of visitors every day it is important to make them better versed with their city.
The questions relate to all aspects of the city’s history, geography, and contemporary life. The topics include The Mound and the century in which Leith was declared the official port of Edinburgh or which famous poet can boast of his own statue in Leith.
Questions will be related to famous personalities like J.K. Rowling, Sean Connery and even Dolly the Sheep all from Edinburgh. Multiple choice questions like “What was Thistle Street named after?” Will help the trainees to score.
The test will be give to everyone concerned with the training program from taxi drivers to hotel receptionists, bar tenders to hair dressers. The Edinburgh tourism authorities are making sure that tourists find answers to all their queries and tourism professionals help tourists to take back a knowledgeable experience with them when they leave Edinburgh.
