As per Hisham Al-Damiri, Chairperson of the Tourism Promotion Authority, the event welcomes over two hundred participating travel agencies, numerous Polish parliamentarians and representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism,
Al-Damiri informed Daily News Egypt that the country has won the competition to host the annual PIT conference after winning competition with other nations that also wanted to host the meeting, led by Turkey.
Al-Damiri observed that Egypt won this because of its intensive communications and massive public relations campaign for almost one year or so.
He emphasized that his authority is finding out mechanisms that would help to improve various features of tourism cooperation between Egypt and Poland and the development of a joint committee from both sides with Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Tourism and PIT. This cooperation, in general, targets to exchange experience on constant development of Egyptian tourism. Besides, the Polish side would offer Egypt with improvement in the Polish tourism market.
PIT President Pawel Niewiadomski highlighted that Egypt is going through rapid developments to lure and stimulate tourism.
The Red Sea witnessed 110,900 Polish tourists in 2016, as observed by Niewiadomski and 2017 is witnessing an amazing growth compared to the last year. Tourists from Poland occupy the sixth place in the Red Sea region; where as the German tourists occupy the top spot followed by Ukrainians.
The initial months of 2017, the tourist numbers reached 5.161 million, compared to 3.617 million in the same period of 2016.
