Around 1,222 tourists have arrived in Dahab on Wednesday, according to sources from the tourism police. 2018 is expected to bring in more visitors in the serene town, exploring Dahab’s underwater world and participating in the life of the Egyptian-international community.
The Red Sea town is popular for its moderate climate and relaxed atmosphere with its friendly and hospitable people. Tourists from Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Italy and the United Kingdom are offered a wide range of water sports, such as snorkelling, scuba and free diving, wind and kite-surfing.
The most famous diving spot in Dahab is the Blue Hole, which is well known amongst the international diving community. The lighthouse area offers an easy, accessible and beautiful reef for both diving and snorkelling fans. Additionally, the town provides comfortable and clean accommodations which are even more affordable than in other diving destinations in Egypt, such as Sharm El-Sheikh.
There are also other popular tourist attractions in Egypt such as Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria, Taba and Hurghada. As per an UNWTO report, Egypt is among the countries achieving a remarkable revival in tourism with around 8 million tourists visiting Egypt by the end of 2017.
